We're passionate about promoting the benefits of higher education and supporting young people to progress onto studying at university. We offer a number of access programmes which allow students to engage with us over a sustained period, taking part in a variety of different activities such as skills workshops and academic masterclasses.

Lancaster Access Programme
Lancaster Access Programme is an exciting opportunity for young people in Years 12 and 13 to develop skills to help their school/college studies and enhance their application to progress to university in the future.
The programme gives students the opportunity to take part in a range of activities, events and experiences including campus residentials, workshops, study skills and masterclasses. They have access to a dedicated online platform allowing them to sign up to events, access a range of dedicated resources and receive support from Lancaster University staff and current students whilst working towards a lower offer to study at Lancaster.
The programme also works with local schools on a pre-16 early access programme, supporting groups of students through interactive sessions over three years to support them to join the full programme once they start their post-16 studies.

Realising Opportunities
Realising Opportunities is a national collaboration of research-intensive universities, working together to promote fair access and social mobility of students from groups underrepresented in higher education. Over the two year programme Year 12 students from partner schools across Lancashire and Cumbria, take part in a student conference, an academic element and have the opportunity to visit universities around the country.
Upon successful completion of the programme, students are eligible for special consideration on application at any of the 16 partner universities.

Access to Medicine
Access to Medicine is an amazing opportunity for students in Year 12 to find out more about studying medicine at Lancaster University and to help you decide if medicine is a career they wish to pursue further.
Students will discover what it is like to learn at Lancaster Medical School and receive expert advice and guidance about how to make a successful application to study a medical degree. Successful completion of the programme will result in a guaranteed interview for A100 Medicine and Surgery at Lancaster.

Children & Young People's Partnership
The Children & Young People’s Partnership outreach activities seek to raise young people’s awareness and understanding of higher education through meaningful and positive interactions with the institution and its students.
From pre-school to secondary school, our innovative projects enable pupils and students alike to take part in fun and engaging outreach opportunities both on and off campus.
Our framework of activities also supports schools in meeting the Ofsted and Gatsby 7 benchmark with on-campus activities working to accompany the National Curriculum.

The Role Model Ambassador Project
The Role Model Ambassador Project is an outreach initiative working with current Lancaster students and young people in Year 9 - Year 13 from the British South Asian community in the North West.
The project comprises of a series of Role Model Ambassador visits, community events and Madrasah workshops, sessions in local faith and non-faith schools and on campus events.
