John Middleton

John Middleton has been named as the new executive director of The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Europe.

John completed his BA in Education in 1988 and MA in Education Management in 1991. He was President of Cartmel College and treasurer of the Students' Union, was actively involved in raising money to support the living costs for a student sponsored from South Africa and participated in an abseil down Bowland Tower. John is honoured to have been appointed to work for an organisation that promotes extraordinary quality of services and values across education in Europe. He will take up his post on 5 May 2015 and will provide leadership for a staff of 17 based in London with responsibility for programmes and services to members in Europe.

CASE Europe provides over 400 schools, colleges and universities with professional development, research, standards and information resources related to alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing. It is the largest organisation of its type in Europe and part of one of the largest associations of educational institutions in the world.

John is currently Managing Director of School-Home Support, which provides support for vulnerable children and their families to overcome barriers to learning. At SHS, he developed and executed a business plan that secured more than £1m, created new partnerships and expanded core activities. Previously, he served as Head of Economic Development at London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, Vice Principal and Director of Resources at Newham Sixth Form College and Director of Finance at Ridge Danyers College. John has extensive experience in the management of non-profit organisations, including educational institutions.  Further details.
