The Lectureships

Our 50th Anniversary Lectureships Scheme will support our vision through the appointment of 19 early career academics.

The Scheme is designed to identify academic leaders of the future and attract the highest calibre of applicants with the potential to become Readers or Chairs within 5 years. You will not be allocated a direct teaching load in at least the first two years, although tutoring, project supervision and a small number of specialist lectures would be possible. In years 3-5 you will remain research focussed but undertake appropriate teaching responsibilities to satisfy operational and promotion criteria.

The Scheme will operate for five years and at the end of the scheme, subject to satisfactory performance, you will be assimilated onto the appropriate academic contract.

With an intended start date of 1 September 2016 you will be supported individually and as a cohort. Regular cohort development sessions will enable you to further develop and strengthen your profile in:

  • Funding
  • Publications
  • Public engagement and outreach
  • Project and resource management

To apply you must hold a PhD and have the personal capacity to make an outstanding contribution to the research profile of the university. The potential for research independence and evidence of research maturity are essential. If you currently hold an external fellowships which aligns to our vision, we will support you to transfer your fellowship to Lancaster.
