Latest Forecast from IRLCO-CSA - 4th June 2014

SYNOPSIS: There were no reports of African Armyworm (Spodoptera exempta Walker) outbreaks received from any of the IRLCO-CSA Member Countries. Armyworm season has ended in Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe; it may continue in Kenya and northern Tanzania.

Current situation:

There were no reports of African Armyworm (Spodoptera exempta Walker) outbreaks received from any of the IRLCO-CSA Member Countries.

Outlook for Jun-Aug 2014:

In Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe no outbreaks are expected as dry conditions prevail. Armyworm outbreaks may occur in Kenya and northern Tanzania as favourable climatic conditions for outbreaks will continue to exist.
