Research Overview

Charlotte's research falls within the remit of of feminist criminology and she is particularly interested in the ways in which gender and intersecting inequalities influence pathways into crime, offending behaviour, experiences of violence and abuse and interactions with the criminal justice system. Her recent and ongoing research projects include police officer responses to coercive control, media and legal representations of female co-offenders and a qualitative exploration of co-offending women's pathways into crime and experiences of coercion and agency. Her broad research intersts include female (co) offending, media representations of gender, crime and deviance, violence against women and girls and police responses to domestic violence.
