Shared with the Lancaster Environment Centre, our new £4.4 million teaching laboratories provide bench space for 216 students.
The labs are mainly used for undergraduate teaching and project work, alongside some Masters level work.
The flexible design means that up to four classes can be taught at one time in the two laboratories, with up to 12 students clustered around double benches, having access to monitor screens and speakers which are controlled from four teaching stations.
The facilities include cold store rooms, preparation rooms, a muffle furnace room, 12 fume cupboards, storage space and office space for technical staff. There are even lockers in the circulation area, so students can follow best practice and leave coats and bags outside the labs.
