Charity dinner raises £757.56 for Stepping Stones Nigeria and CancerCare.
A charity dinner, including auction and live entertainment, proved to be the successful culmination of the Insight into Event Management course facilitated by Careers. Taking place on 13th March at Greaves Park, over £756 was raised by the 18 students who had organised the dinner as part of the Event Management course.
The success of the fundraiser was testimony to the hard work of these students, and the usefulness of the event management workshops where theories and processes were explored during the taught elements. However, learning by doing is probably the best way to learn, and organising the charity event proved to be a fantastic way for these hard working students to gain the employability skills that will help them to secure top jobs - indeed many of these now want to pursue a career in event management.
This was captured by the reflections of the participating students. Hannah Qui said "Such a wonderful night, thank you everyone for teaching me so much stuff, this is really the best team I have ever joined". One of the leading students, Greg Bickerdike said immediately after the event "Congratulations everyone, we've done amazing and it's all been for such a good cause! I'm really happy with how everything went, everyone looked beautiful! The tables were so well decorated as well so special thanks to Amy Purcell for that, we've all put so much effort in and it's paid off I'm really happy that I got the chance to work with you all, it's been fantastic!"
