Students from Lancaster University have been making an impact in the local community and beyond by taking part in the Lancaster University Charity Event Planning course run by Careers. Huge congratulations go out to Tsitsi Ganga, Vladislav Romanenko, Daniil Bernadskiy, Vanessa Sibanda, and Jordan Smith for their contributions to the community and members of the university.
CancerCare and Safe Child Africa, regular collaborators with Lancaster University from local charities received over £100 from these student fundraisers who planned and organised a successful movie night in collaboration with Take2 Cinema in Lent term. The group sold snacks and refreshments to give the event an authentic feel after conducting a poll to ask students about their movie preferences.
The team was given a small amount of money to get the project up and running but needed very little in order to raise this money.
The course runs every term. If you are interested in raising money for charity and gaining skills for your CV and future job search along the way, contact Shelley Morgan, firstname.lastname@example.org. Invite your friends to come along too. The session counts towards Lancaster Award and you can earn 15 points for the volunteering and 5 points for the workshop.
