A pilot Assessment Centre Experience (ACE) was organised and delivered by Careers on Tuesday 4th February.  Over forty students from a variety of disciplines and years of study attended the highly successful event.

In order to make the experience as realistic as possible for participating students, Teach First and Enterprise Rent a Car were invited to give students an insight into what to expect at an assessment centre, and how to excel on the day.

Both employers ran a simulation exercise the likes of which students could face at any assessment centre. Students received the added benefit from feedback on their performance from Careers staff during the first exercise, and the opportunity to peer review each other after the second exercise.

The students were highly engaged throughout the afternoon and Careers received positive feedback from both students and the employers alike.

Comments included:

“...role of assessor was useful for feedback on how I could improve. I feel it has prepared me greatly for future assessment centres”.

“Useful, interesting, thought provoking”.

“Overall a really positive experience, felt like it was a great practice for the real thing”.

Due to the success of the event Careers aim to run a similar session in the future.  Keep an eye on our website for further information.
