University Air Squadron
University Air Squadrons have a long tradition of offering flying training to students and the opportunity to experience life in the Royal Air Force.
Lancaster University students are able to enrol in the University Air Squadron based at RAF Woodvale where they will join students from the University of Liverpool and other regional universities.
Joining a University Air Squadron will provide the perfect introduction if you're considering an Royal Air Force career, whether in a flying or ground-based role.
RAF Woodvale is located about 50 miles south of the university on the coast near Southport, Merseyside.
The Air Squadron at RAF Woodvale has a long tradition of offering a wide selection of training opportunities.
This includes flying to sports and adventurous training to undergraduates, and Master’s students with two years left on their course.
You get to experience life in the Royal Air Force and the wide range of career opportunities they provide.
This is the perfect introduction to a possible career with the Royal Air Force.
Membership of the squadron assists with all stages of an application for the Royal Air Force, either for bursary’s or direct entry, whether in a flying or ground-based roles.
As a member of the University Air Squadron you are eligible for up to 30 days pay (roughly £1170).
The squadron will also pay your travel expenses between home and Woodvale.
