Health Education England has highlighted a pioneering project between University Hospitals Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) and Lancaster University’s Centre for Education, Training and Development (CETAD).
The vision for the Fylde Coast Local Health Economy is to create new models of care specifically tailored to support the needs of particular segments of the population, with health and social care services better coordinated around the patient, and a focus on improved self-management of long-term conditions whenever possible.
A group of 10 senior health care leaders from Gauteng province in South Africa will be visiting Lancaster from 28 June to 4 July on a development programme delivered by CETAD.
CETAD at Lancaster University has recently completed a research project with three local NHS Trusts to identify the range of staff development activities that might be needed to support the NHS agenda on health care 'innovation and improvement'. This agenda is not only about improving the quality and safety of health care but about developing innovative solutions to the way health care is delivered.
