Outreach

From explosively fun custard rockets to hi-tech spectrometry kits, our interactive activities, academic-led masterclasses and free-to-hire equipment have been specially designed to engage young minds as well as meet syllabus requirements.

At Lancaster University, we’re proud of our position as one of the country’s best departments for aspiring chemists. With multi-million-pound facilities and a top-ten ranking in research output quality, student satisfaction, and in the Times/Sunday Times 2018 Chemistry tables, we’ve established ourselves as leaders in modern chemistry. Now, we’re aiming to share our passion for chemistry with the next generation – offering you some extra resources and activities to help you inspire your students.

We specialise in a diverse range of research, from new developments in the fundamental science that underpins our understanding, to projects with direct application in our everyday lives. All of which informs our teaching and engagement activities. It’s an exciting time to be involved with chemistry, for both teachers and students. Everyone in the Department relishes the chance to engage with schools and colleges like yours – we’re looking forward to working with you.
