Solid State NMR Facilities

The department has a broad range of modern solid state NMR instrumentation, including the joint second highest field wide-bore instrument in the UK and a wide range of probes.

‌If you have any specific applications in mind, feel free to contact either Dr Geoffrey Akien or Professor David Middleton.Solid state NMR facilities in A76 - Bruker AVANCE III HD 400WB (left, background), Bruker AVANCE III HD 700WB (right, foreground)

Both solid state instruments are located in A76, with access via the A75 preparation room. Access is restricted to approved users only.

The magnets are refilled with liquid nitrogen on Mondays, and the with liquid helium approximately every three months.

If you wish to request time on these instruments, contact Dr. John Griffin - they are generally booked one month in advance.
