Considering further study?
Our Department provides many opportunities for postgraduate study. You will have the opportunity to complete a PhD in Chemistry, or alternatively an MSc by Research in the subject. In addition, if you initially apply for the three-year Chemistry BSc but decide that you want to change to the four-year MChem course, you will have the opportunity to do so.
Research opportunities are available within each of our research areas, which are broadly categorised as analytical chemistry and spectroscopy; chemical theory and chemical computation; and synthesis.
Studying a PhD at Lancaster will give you the tools you need in order to pursue a career in research allowing you to pursue research at the leading edge of your subject. You will pursue a specific area of original research for three or four years, supervised by a leading academic in the field. Although many PhD graduates go on to pursue careers in academia, you may also pursue a career in commercial research, and your specialist knowledge will be desirable to employers within areas such as finance and business.
Our Department has a wide range of PhDs available – you should arrange to discuss your research proposals with the relevant academics.
