We recommend that you try to arrive at the college between 10am and 4.00pm as shortly after this your kitchen reps will be gathering you and your new flatmates together and taking you to the orientation talk in the Great Hall. For students who will be living off-campus we ask that you arrive at Barker House Farm in Cartmel College for 4.00pm where you can meet your JCR rep and College Advisor and in good time to attend the orientation talk in the Great Hall at 5.30pm, following this we will all head back to Cartmel for a BBQ!
Monday 28th September
1pm Mandatory Safety and Fire talk in the Great Hall
It is vital that you attend both these events. Your Fresher Reps will take you to the venues.

Tonight we're bringing you a UV PAINT PARTY at Dalton Rooms! We'll have free buses there and back so no need to worry about how you'll get home!
Tuesday 29th September
Throughout the day (9:15am until 5:00pm) you can attend your Part I talks which will aid you in choosing your minor subject(s), so make sure you choose wisely! See iLancaster Welcome Week Guide for the times and locations of each talk.
Cartmel sports teams (Football, Darts, Pool, Dominoes and Netball) will be having trials from 12:00pm, if you fancy yourself as an athlete, or a more casual competitor, come on down and try your hand at a huge range of sports! Who knows, you might have a hidden talent that you never knew about!
Tonight Cartmel presents INTO THE WILD: A BIG NIGHT OUT. Lancaster University Students' Union (LUSU) will be helping us put on one of the biggest termly events for Lancaster students - THE BIG NIGHT OUT bar crawl in Lancaster City Centre! They'll have candy floss, photo booths, balloon drops and much more as we end our crawl in our Students' Union nightclub Sugarhouse for your first Sugar experience!
If you fancy a quieter night there will be a guided tour around the North-West's most significant historic monument, Lancaster Castle. With origins dating all the way back to the Romans, this fascinating building founded in 1093 has been a centre for local justice for over 800 years. Knowledgeable and friendly tour guides will take you through the courtyard and into the building where you will be surrounded by one of the country's oldest and most iconic courtrooms: The Shire Hall. Hear tales of witchcraft, religious persecution, crime & punishment, and dare to be locked inside one of our dark prison cells. The tour finishes in C-Wing where you can view cells used up until 2011 before being 'released'!!. Meeting at the Castle at 6pm

Wednesday 30th September
The UniSmart Induction is taking place at 11am today in The Great Hall, this is a great event and will give you some essential tips on surviving your time University. NB There are some flashing lights and loud noises at this event.
From 12:00pm your JCR Exec will be opening their own Hangover Clinic for those feeling run down from the weeks antics. There'll be free food and drinks as well as some surprises.
From 4-5pm is Cartmel Enrolment: You must attend this essential event to enrol on to your Part One courses (this includes part-time students). Alternative arrangements for direct to Part Two and visiting study abroad students will be communicated separately as relevant. Students from departments within the Management School should report to the Management School Hub and Breakout Areas to enrol (9am-5pm) All other students should visit the George Fox Building.
Tonight is International night on campus and Cartmel will be hosting our very own Oktoberfest style BIERKELLER by bringing some German inspiration to Cartmel. Brasswurst Bavairan Beer Band will provide us with a combination of lederhosen, Oompah tunes and modern classics! There will be a free stein for the first 200 (beer or soft drinks sadly not included), traditional German-style entertainment and food!
Thursday 1st October
Freshers' Fair Part I begins at 12:00pm in the Great Hall. Freshers' Fair is a great chance to join any societies and clubs that you are interested in. It's also an amazing opportunity to pick up countless freebies, goodie bags and discount cards, so this is not one to be missed! Don't forget though, you will need your Purple cards to sign up to anything, so make sure you get yours beforehand! Sign up for one now.
Tonight we'll be hosting a traditional folk Ceilidh for a chill night in after a hectic few nights. It's a really great event to wind down with and get prepared for Friday night. The event is open to everyone, whether you're in Cartmel or not and we can promise you something different and fun to the standard night out!
Friday 2nd October
The Freshers’ Fair continues today from 1:00pm in the Great Hall, another great chance to sign up for any societies as well as grab as many freebies as possible! Friday night is our BIG NIGHT ON CAMPUS with four other colleges. We'll be setting off on a campus bar crawl with a game of pub golf to give you a taste of the college bars. Our theme for the evening is C for Cartmel, so get prepared to dress as everything from Cats to Crayons and Camels and Carrots.
Don't fancy that? Then why not join us on a trip through the world famous Blackpool Illuminations - At 10 km long and using over one million bulbs the Blackpool Illuminations are an awesome spectacle. We will be leaving from Cartmel South Avenue at 6pm and stopping in Great Eccleston giving you the opportunity to grab some fish and chips on the way!

Saturday 3rd October
Most of us will remember the 1990s so tonight our theme is WE heart emoticon 90s and we'll have Indie and Pop going head to head at Apothecary Bar & Lounge and Hustle Lancaster.
Don't fancy our 90s night? Never mind, we've got you covered with our CARTMEL CULT CINEMA evening. We'll be bringing you all the greats including PULP FICTION, FIGHT CLUB & DONNIE DARKO.
Sunday 4th October
Today gives you the opportunity to visit Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the UK’s favourite amusement park, with over 100 rides and attractions, spectacular shows and it’s the most ride intensive park in the UK. Home to the steel mega-coaster that is the Big One, the UK’s only Nickelodeon Land and the world’s first Wallace & Gromit ride, Thrill-O-Matic, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is full of world firsts.
