The Principal is the senior member of the College responsible to the Council and the Senate of the University for the College finances and for maintaining the effective working and good order of the College.
Paul is the Principal’s second in command within the College. Paul has been a part of Graduate College in many capacities since he came to Lancaster as a student in 1994
College Wellbeing Officer

College Wellbeing Officer
The College Administrator is responsible for running the College Office and sends out regular e-mail newsletters to postgraduate students featuring news, information and events of interest to postgraduate students. She is also responsible for the College’s social media (Facebook & Twitter) as well as the website. She acts as admin support for the 9 Colleges Cafe, PGBoard and bar as well as assisting with joint PGBoard/College events and activities. The College Administrator can be found next to the Porters’ lodge, and office hours are 9:00am – 5:00pm on Mondays and 9:00am-1:00pm, Tuesday- Friday.
College Accommodation Office
The Accommodation office is responsible for all accommodation related matters within the college. Their office hours are 9:30am – 12:30pm and 2:00pm – 4:30pm. The accommodation office is on your left as you enter the reception lodge, next to the College TV/Meeting room, and can be reached on 01524 (5)93342.
The Dean is a senior member of the College who ensures that there is no breach of university or college rules. He is responsible for all disciplinary matters within the College.
The Resident Assistant Deans are postgraduate students who live within Graduate College, and work as part of the College welfare team. Assisting the Dean and Wellbeing Officer with welfare and disciplinary matters.
They are the first people you should contact if you are having problems in your flat. We know it can be difficult sometimes living with new people who may not have the same lifestyle as you… people who may like things noisier or quieter than you do or who eat, sleep and work at different times to you. The assistant deans will come to you and help you and your flatmates talk through problems and find a solution. Email them
The College Porters are available 24 hours a day for the majority of the year and are responsible for mail, room keys, and general security in and around the college. They are the people you should speak to first if you need help or information or if you have any sort of problems day or night.
Gareth has been responsible for running Graduate Bar since 2000. He has succeeded in having the bar listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide since 2003 and his ever-changing selection of quality traditional real ales are well worth trying. Watch out for his annual Real Ale & Cider festival in week 9 of the summer term.
The Postgraduate Board
The PG Board is the elected representative body of the student members of The Graduate College of Lancaster University. All postgraduate students of the University are members, whether they live in Graduate College or not. They aim to look after the needs of all postgraduates, be they academic, social, sporting or in relation to accommodation.
