We have been one of the last colleges to be re-built as regards accommodation and college facilities and therefore benefit by having the newest and most modern facilities! Grizedale College accommodation comprises 18 'Town Houses', 5 blocks of en suite flats (40 in total), 3 blocks of standard flats (9 in total) and one block of single and double studios housing 605 students in total. For further information please see the main Accommodation Office
The en suite flats have 6 rooms (unless there is a dedicated disabled adapted room when there are only 5 rooms to a flat) and a cleaning service to the communal kitchen (with both soft seating and dining areas).
The standard rooms are not en suite but do have their own wash basin within the room. There are 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets per flat plus a large communal kitchen. The rent in these rooms is slightly lower than in the newer accommodation and they are extremely good value.
All these flats have been completely refurbished (Summer 2012) and have new kitchen fittings such as cupboards, flooring, cookers, fridges etc plus new fitted beds (7ft in length) and new carpets in the individual study rooms to name just a few of the upgrades!
Our students have created a short video about our accommodation.
The studio blockis situated in Alexandra Park and contains 64 single & 8 double self contained studios with kitchenette areas. This accommodation is available to all student year groups although we would advise first year students not to live in a self contained studio due to the fact that they have no communal area for socialising.
The Town HousesEach of the three landings contain four bedrooms and two wet rooms. These are generously sized study bedrooms and as with all our beds ample storage is provided underneath the mattress.
Town House Kitchen/Dining Area
Twelve residents share this space and the kitchen contains three fridge freezers; two ovens and hobs; two microvwaves, kettles and toasters and a dining area to accommodate all residents. In the entrance area, there is an additional toilet.
Town House Living Room AreaThese are different to the majority of rooms on campus in the fact that they have a longer let length than the en-suite blocks i.e. 43 weeks instead of 40 weeks and that no cleaning service is provided. The communal areas contain a living room space with large sofas, coffee table and patio door leading to outside space and have proved extremely popular with all students as an alternative to the smaller flats.
Study Bedroom En suite rooms
Our superior en-suite rooms have a let-length of 40 weeks. The en-suite comprises of a shower, basin and toilet. The kitchen is shared between 5 - 6 residents. A cleaning service is provided in the communal areas Mon-Friday during term-time but students are responsible for their own rubbish and recycling removal.
There is a small communal area in all of the Grizedale en-suite flats.
Study Bedroom Standard AccommodationThere are three blocks of standard accommodation in Grizedale. There are eight rooms in each flat, along with two shower rooms and two toilets. The kitchens have been recently refurbished and are shared between eight people.
Each of the rooms contain a wash basin.
A cleaning service is provided in the communal areas Mon-Friday during term-time but students are responsible for their own rubbish and recycling removal
