Our LICA building is one of the most iconic buildings on the University Campus and has been awarded BREEAM outstanding for its sustainability.
Completed in 2011, our Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts Building (LICA) has been the home to some of our larger events.
As a ‘BREEAM Outstanding’ building, LICA has been built with sustainability at the heart of its ethos. Nestled in the wooded area of campus and accessed via a footbridge across the pond this creative and inspiring venue is full of versatility. With 593m2 of space to play with, this vast flat floored venue allows event organisers to utilise as much or as little as they like.
LICA benefits from two partition walls which can separate the room into three equally sized spaces. If left open, LICA can seat up to 800 people theatre style.
Originally built as a performance space, this bright, double height, open plan space is equipped with state of the art lighting rigs and AV. These are just some of the features in this space that can add the wow factor to your event!
With breakout spaces available within the building, and a large foyer area for registration, refreshments and networking, this venue is often in high demand. In the past it has been used for conferences, exhibitions, and gala dinners.
As the LICA building is used for teaching it is available for events during the University vacation periods (usually March/April, July, August and September).
