Mandarin Chinese Language Classes

Classes at Lancaster campus

We offer Mandarin Chinese Language Classes for staff, students and the local community. Please see the language classes timetable for details. For all classes, learners will need to study privately for approximately 3 hours a week between lessons in order to learn vocabulary.

Barrow Language Class

Lancaster University, in partnership with Barrow Council, will be launching a brand new Chinese Language class in Barrow, from the 9th March, 2017. The class is open to beginners with little or no previous experience of Chinese, though if you have learned some before, feel free to come along too!

Want to practice your Mandarin?

The Chinese café is an informal and free drop-in place to practice Mandarin with native speakers. All native speakers and students of Chinese welcome, no need to book and it's free!

When: Every Wednesday from 24th April to 26th June
Where: At the Roundhouse
Time: 6.30pm-8.00pm

Chinese film screenings on campus

Lancaster University Confucius Institute is offering a set of 10 Chinese film screenings on campus almost every fortnight. These should be excellent for any Chinese learners, but the invitation is open to absolutely everyone! If you fancy brushing up on your Chinese, or just want to enjoy a good film, we’d be happy to have you. And don’t worry- all our screenings feature English subtitles!
