"The Confucius Institute is the Overseas Chinese Home" Confucius Institute at Lancaster University Received Visiting ACYF Members
On 23rd September 2013, 24 young future leaders from China’s major banking groups visited the Confucius Institute at Lancaster University. The young future leaders are all members of All-China Youth Federation (ACYF). As ACYF members, they had received days of intensive training from Lancaster University Management School. Before they left Lancaster University, the group led by Ms. Liu Wei Yi, came to the Confucius Institute.
These future leaders felt a wave of amazement and warmth in the Institute. Ms. Liu, head of group said to Prof. Fengchun Zhang, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, that everyone felt a very warm welcome. Sipping the Chinese tea, talking in Chinese and having the Chinese paintings in sight, Ms. Liu remarked that she felt back in her own home country and that “the Confucius Institute is indeed the overseas Chinese home.”
The Confucius Institute at Lancaster University was established on 20th December 2011. Since then, it has received numerous distinguished individual and group visitors from China. Hence, it has become a venue where the Chinese in Lancaster (including Lancaster University) learn about Chinese culture and feel the warm embrace of their homeland.
