Temporary/Casual Employment - Revised arrangements from 1 September 2014

From 1 September 2014, a new service (the Employment and Recruitment Service - ERS) will manage certain types of temporary/casual employment. This service will be based in Careers and is designed to enhance employment opportunities for Lancaster students.

Temporary employment covering teaching, demonstrating, academic research, fieldwork, course consultants and external examiners will continue to be managed by HR and the guidance below should be followed. All other types of temporary work eg tour guides, temporary admin, bar and catering work, will be managed by the ERS.

It is important that all teaching and demonstrating is managed through HR to maximise the staff HESA return eg Staff:Student ratios.

All engagements must have hours stated.

Note 2
Rates of pay should be selected from the drop-down list. Exceptions must be agreed with your HR Partner.

Note 3
Non-EU students are limited by their visa status, to a maximum of 20 hours work per week during term time.
