The guidance is provided to enable departments to comply with the provisions of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, particularly the requirement to conduct an assessment of the risks affecting the child or young person.

An example of a form which may be used for the assessment isgiven, together with a summary of work activities in which those persons must not be employed on work experience unless the significant risks identified can be avoided.
