Computer Workstation Assessment (Display Screen Equipment Assessment)

Duration: 3 hours

Is this course for me?

This course is for anyone appointed by the Head of Department to assess computer workstations in accordance with University Guidance on the Implementation of the Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992.

Is this course for me?

This course is for managers, area safety officers, supervisors and anyone who needs to take a lead on or overview risk assessments.

Risk assessment is fundamental to the management of health and safety and underpins the regulatory approach within both the UK and Europe.

This course will provide all the fundamentals needed to understand risk assessment as well as presenting an overview of health and safety law as it affects the University.

Manual Handling Technique

Duration: 1 - 2 hours dependant on delegate needs

Is this course for me?

This course is for anyone who is required to use bodily force to move loads on a frequent basis.

The course can be tailored directly to particular manual handling needs. For example previous sessions have been run for security and porters giving general technique training and to Pre School Centre staff focussing on the safe handling of babies and toddlers.

Fieldwork - Health and Safety Guidance for Planners and Supervisors

Is this course for me?

This course is aimed at Heads of Departments and Schools, fieldwork leaders, Principal Investigators, academic supervisors, post graduate students and any members of staff involved in the planning and management of fieldwork.

Chemical Safety in Laboratories - Assessing the Risks and Controlling the Hazards

Duration: 3.5 hours

Is this course for me?

The course is suitable for any post graduate student of member of staff who works with or supervises work with laboratory or proprietary chemicals.

It is specifically intended for individuals who prepare or authorise 'COSHH' assessments.

Course Details

The course will cover the risk assessment process with specific reference to chemical hazards commonly found in the laboratory environment.

Assessment of risks arising from use of proprietary chemicals will also be covered.
