Course Overview

Our MSc Data Science programme offers students the opportunity to gain the skills needed to succeed in Data Science and to shape their learning according to their interests.

The MSc in Data Science comprises a set of core data science modules and allows students to develop a specialism in either Computing or Statistical Inference.

Subject to pre-requisites, students may opt to select their optional module choices to cross specialisms, according to background knowledge and career aspirations.

Computing Specialism

The Computing Specialism focuses on large-scale computation and building systems to enable data science problems to be tackled.

Statistical Inference Specialism

The Statistical Inference Specialism focuses upon statistical modelling and inference of large and complex data structures. This specialism allows further specialisation via the modules of the Health Pathway (for students interested in Health Informatics, Clinical Trial Management or Health Data Analysis) and the Business Intelligence Pathway (for students interested in Financial Analysis, Business Intelligence or Data-driven Marketing).
