MSc Data Science - Business Intelligence Pathway
Lancaster University's Data Science Business Intelligence Pathway gives students the skills necessary to succeed in business and financial analytics.
The Business Intelligence pathway has been developed in co-operation with Industry specialists and is intended for students seeking a career in data-driven marketing, financial analysis or forecasting.
Our extensive Industry links enable students to gain an understanding of why companies are adopting a data-driven approach to business decision making and why data science skills are in demand. Throughout the year, students will be able to hear from Industry speakers about how their organisations have used data science and the opportunities that are available for new data scientists. Funded placements are available for students on this pathway within organisations at the cutting edge of applied data science.
The Business Intelligence Pathway is an optional route within the MSc Data Science Statistical Inference Specialism and consists of the following core modules:
- Data Science Fundamentals
- Programming for Data Science
- Data Mining
- Generalised Linear Models
- Likelihood Inference
- Bayesian Inference for Data Science
Students then select the following elective modules to complete the pathway:
- Data Mining for Marketing, Sales and Finance
- Optimisation and Heuristics
The contents of this pathway have been chosen to provide students with the skills necessary to suceed in Commercial and Financial Data Science.
