Current and Future Possibilities in Mobile Technology and Autism Education
Mobile apps are pervading our lives. They both contribute towards and extend our social identity. For young people with autism, issues of identity, capability, and agency are significant factors in our important attempts to promote social and educational inclusion.
In this context, can mobile apps make a difference? Do they create more issues than they solve, and how can academics, teachers and parents find their way through these complex questions. Drawing on completed and ongoing research projects on mobile technology and autism, this seminar will explore these issues, as well as considering how rapidly emerging new technology may or may not change practice inside and outside the classroom.
