The Department of Educational Research is 50 years old this year and we would like you to join us in a celebration of this event. You may be an ex-member of staff or one of the many hundreds who have graduated from our programmes over the years. You may have a burning passion for Educational Research or just a curiosity about the Department and Lancaster University, or just want to join us to celebrate or attend the symposium to listen to our keynote speakers. We are planning an event that we hope will offer something for everyone.

Friday Symposium - 10.30 to 4 pm

We start on Friday 22nd September with a Symposium focussing on the three key areas of research active currently in the Department. Each of these will feature a keynote address delivered by one of the many illustrious academics who have worked here:

Professor Noel Entwistle will lead on Higher Education
Professor Rosemary Deem on Social Justice and Well-Being in Education
Professor Peter Goodyear on Technology Enhanced Learning

Each of these keynotes will be supported by two papers from two members of each of our three Research centres. Plenty of time will be allowed for discussion both formally and informally

Friday Evening - 7.30 - 11.30

On Friday evening, there will be a celebratory dinner, with band, to which everyone is invited (the number of seats for all events will be finite of course so it will be a first come - first reserved system). Partners are welcome to the Friday evening, Saturday morning events.

We have a small provisional booking of rooms at Lancaster House Hotel and Lancaster University but there is plenty of accommodation available in Lancaster, for you to book independently.

Saturday 23rd September - 10.30am

A post-dinner coffee morning. We can even offer tours of the campus for those who would want them.

Whether you are up for the whole thing, or just wish to select parts, we look forward to celebrating with as many people as possible in September.
