MOOCs exploded into the Open Education ecosystem with much hype and media attention. But are they living up to their promises? What are they giving to Open Education and what are they taking away? This seminar attempts to answer these questions, paying particular attention to theory, and asks what pedagogical practices should we be fostering for the MOOC context.

Phil Tubman is a PT PhD student with Educational Research and School of Computing and Communications, and also a Senior Learning Technologist in the ISS eLearning team. He has been developing online courses at all scales for 18 years, and is particularly interested in viewing learning through a social lens.
