Network Systems

Our research focusses on exploring and improving network systems in the following key areas: national energy systems, hybrid communication-energy networks, distributed generation systems, peer-to-peer communications networks, the resilience of complex networks, electricity grid performance and global primary energy use and CO2 emissions. 

Our work focusses on developing networks to address fundamental aspects of energy distribution and end use.For example, we are developing hybrid communication-energy networks to address fundamental aspects of energy distribution and end use and reduce energy demand through the EQUATOR project.

We build novel peer-to-peer communications networks to facilitate efficient smart grid implementation across a diversity of mobile platforms, and are investigating the use of intelligent condition monitoring and fault diagnosis/prognosis of distributed generation systems such as wind and solar pv with grid connections.
