Megan Lovett, who graduated from Lancaster with an MEng Hons Sustainable Engineering two years ago has won the Siemens 'Graduate of the Year'.

As part of a two-year graduate programme, Siemens provide a development plan that’s tailored for each graduate, specific to their job role, includes mentoring support, and gives them the opportunity to build their professional network. They manage the performance throughout, and support graduates in finding a role at the end of the programme.

To win the award they must exceed expectations and consistently deliver at a high standard throughout their time at Siemens, they will have also demonstrated their commitment to personal development. Megan is in her final year of the Graduate Development Programme.

Rodger Howarth, Graduate Manager at Siemens said “Megan has demonstrated a real passion for engineering, particularly where we use it to tackle our societies biggest issues. For instance, she has just completed a project which uses new technology to allow dementia patients to access music as a form of therapy and has taken as much satisfaction from seeing the effect that her project has had on the lives of the patients it has helped, as well as the technical learning experience. At the other end of the spectrum, she has also been involved in installing and commissioning a number of systems to clean up the environmental footprint of the UKs biggest traditional coal fired power station to help it meet its environmental obligations of today and has shown a great willingness to get her hands dirty”
