Dr Robert Apsimon

Senior Lecturer in Electronic Engineering

Profile

Robert finished his MPhys. at Balliol College, University of Oxford, in 2007 and stayed on to study a D.Phil. in feedback electronics before moving to CERN to undertake a postgraduate research fellowship in 2012. He then started at Lancaster University's Engineering department in 2014 as a PDRA before becoming an international lecturer in 2018, teaching at the LU/BJTU joint campus in Weihai, China.

Robert's research interests are:

  • High power RF electronics
  • Radiotherapy
  • Nonlinear & off-axis beam dynamics
  • Feedback electronics and filter design
  • Interactions between charged particle beams and RF electromagnetic fields
  • Broadband RF acceleration
