English & Creative Writing Staff Launch Wordsworth Mooc

Date: 1 July 2015

Professors Simon Bainbridge, Sally Bushell and Sharon Ruston of the English & Creative Writing department have all been involved in making an online course for the Futurelearn platform entitled ‘William Wordsworth: Poetry, People, Place’. The course is a collaboration between Lancaster University and the Wordsworth Trust.

This free online course will explore the poetry of William Wordsworth, with an emphasis on his writing process and the inspirational landscape of the Lake District. The course has been filmed at Dove Cottage, Grasmere, where Wordsworth lived from 1799 to 1808. There, he produced much of his greatest work, including “I wandered lonely as a Cloud” (perhaps better known as “Daffodils”) and The Prelude (his autobiographical masterpiece).

You can find more details, and sign up for the course, at https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/william-wordsworth
