Professor Paul Farley featured on live broadcast of Dawn Chorus for BBC Radio 4

Professor Paul Farley joined pop star Will Young and a gang of other unexpected bird-lovers as BBC Radio 4 threw an all-nighter in search of the Dawn Chorus on Sunday 7th May. Going on air just after midnight and staying up till 7am, Paul took part in a night of conversation, story-telling, poetry, argument and explanation during a live broadcast of the Dawn Chorus from Ham Wall nature reserve near Glastonbury in Somerset. Other guests included Jimi Goodwin, lead singer of Doves; Birds Brittania author Mark Cocker, bird acoustics expert Dr. Jenny York, Natural Navigator Tristan Gooley, singer Hanna Tuulikki and academic Alexandra Harris.

Radio 4 did this as part of International Dawn Chorus Day - a unique broadcast event hosted by RTE radio in Ireland - in which radio stations across Europe and as far east as India joined together to track the rising sun across the continent, capturing the sounds of capercaillies from Norway, bluethroats in Holland and bitterns in Somerset.
