Thomas Young and Fraser Williams met whilst both studying Management and Entrepreneurship at Lancaster in 2014. Whilst at university they engaged in the university’s entrepreneurial culture which included seeking advice from the Enterprise Team and taking part in start-up workshops. They were also able to access funding (Lancashire County Council, Santander Universities and Lancaster University’s Department of Entrepreneurship, Strategy & Innovation) for a trip to Silicon Valley.

Tom and Fraser were accepted onto the September 2015 cohort of the Ignite 100 accelerator. During the three month programme they learnt a lot and trialled a number of ideas until finally pivoting towards Repairly. In 2016, Tom and Fraser were selected amidst strong competition as one of ten innovative start-ups to join one of the world’s leading technology accelerators – Techstars. Backed by Virgin Media, Liberty Global and Techstars Repairly will receive $120,000 investment. Since acceptance onto the accelerator, Repairly has continued to grow at an amazing pace – they have moved to London, employed new staff and even flown in a private jet with Sir Richard Branson!

Tom also returned to the university recently to tell students all about his start-up journey at one of our Start-up Stories events. You can read more about his story here.
