Marcus Lilley founded FutrSocial in 2012 after graduating in Theatre Studies and Professional Contemporary Arts Practice at Lancaster University.  Marcus is a regular commentator on social media and is regularly interviewed by the BBC and has contributed to articles by the Guardian. He speaks at events both nationally and internationally including CultureTech 2013, Digitial Shoreditch, Lancaster University, University of the Arts London and Google Campus London.  In 2014 he was nominated for the ‘Great British Enterpreneurial Awards’.

What appealed to you about getting involved in the Start Up Series of events?

Being able to to give back to Lancaster University students because the University has given me such much .

Marcus’s story highlights and top tips:

‘All I knew was that I had a passion and a desire to do something which I was in control of, so I was in control of my career but, but I didn’t really have a plan of where of necessarily or where I was going to go or how it was going to be undertaken.’

‘It’s just having the determination to make things happen.’

‘I think the biggest lesson I have learnt is that you are capable of much more than you think.’
