We invite our Lancaster MBA Alumni to join our current MBA students, faculty and corporate partners for an evening of entertainment, history and networking at the London Museum Docklands on Thursday, 7th June. To include drinks, dinner in the Muscovado hall and after dinner guest speaker.

Richard Clayton, Chief Correspondent, Lloyd’s list will give an entertaining talk on ‘Why digital disruption is the biggest thing in the shipping industry since steam replaced sails’

Richard read Geography at Lancaster University between 1978 and 1981. After graduation, he joined his father’s start-up shipbroking company as office manager, and set about studying for Institute of Chartered Shipbroker exams. A plunging freight market led him to study for an M.Sc in International Shipping at Plymouth Polytechnic (now University). He then joined Fairplay, the weekly shipping magazine based in London. Over a 30-year period he served as a reporter, editor of the Daily News bulletin, editor of Fairplay magazine, and Chief correspondent. He travelled across Europe, Asia, and North America, with several trips also to Latin America, Southern Africa, and Australasia. He left Fairplay in June 2017 and joined rival Lloyd’s List, where he runs webinars, seminars, roundtables, and business briefings.

Event Details

17:00-18:00: (Optional) Full access to the London Museum Docklands for a self-guided tour. NB: You will need to leave the museum at 18:00 with all other members of the public and re-join us at 18:30 for the drinks reception.
