Lancaster University is investing more than £6million in improving a portion of the 6800 student bed spaces and living areas as part of its long-term strategy.

Since 2010, the University has been awarded ‘Best University Halls’ in the prestigious National Student Housing Awards a remarkable seven times. In order to raise the bar on accommodation and continue to provide award-winning living conditions for our students the University is investing over £6million in three key areas of accommodation.

Three main contractors have been appointed to conduct the individual projects simultaneously in order to complete the overall refurbishment throughout the Summer vacation period. Contractors will start on-site by the middle of July, when the number of students on campus has decreased significantly, and will be completed for the start of Michaelmas Term. This means less disruption for students and the rooms will be ready for them to enjoy on their return at the end of September.

The scope of the overall project, which forms part of the wider 10 year campus masterplan, includes; improved Wi-Fi service, refurbished sanitary areas, new bedroom furniture, carpets and the replacement of external doors, as well as general refurbishment works to Pendle & Grizedale accommodation, Graduate Colleges, and also to Chancellors Wharf (an off-campus accommodation option for students).

The project is a continuation of works from last year and is expected to continue over the next 5 years and beyond, as included in the 2017-2027 Campus Masterplan.
