New Engineering Building
Lancaster University is investing in a state-of-the-art building for the Engineering Department to replace existing facilities and provide additional areas for future growth and new specialisms such as Nuclear, Energy and Chemical Engineering.
The new building will open at the beginning of 2015 and will provide a world-class environment with specially-designed workshops, teaching laboratories and office areas. The aim is to achieve the new BREEAM 2011 Outstanding rating for this building to reflect current regulations and industry benchmarks and to raise the bar in terms of building efficiency in line with National Sustainability and Carbon Reduction targets set for 2016 and 2022.
Over the next few weeks the engineering building will be getting the finishing touches added to it. Staff and students will be moving in from early February, with teaching beginning in the building soon after. You’ll then see the phased completion of the external areas.
This video gives you a sneak peek of the interior of the new engineering building as it nears the final stages of construction.
