The Postgraduate Statistics Centre at Lancaster offers statistical advice both to internal and external researchers.
Statistical Advisory Service
If you have a query about aspects of experimental design or statistical analysis relating to your research, the Statistical Advisory Service is here to help any Lancaster PhD student or member of staff, from any department. We run drop-in sessions from 10am to 12 noon on Tuesdays during term time in B77 of the Postgraduate Statistics Centre. There is no need to book in advance and follow up appointments can be made.
External Consultancy and Collaboration
We are always keen to work with external partners in areas of mutual interest. We can provide consultancy on statistical and mathematical problems that relate to our specialist research interests. We also value longer-term research collaborations concerning more generic challenges in designing studies or analysing data. This can motivate original research in statistical methodology which can then be applied to solve the original problem.
Mathematics and statistics students and graduates may be interested in opportunities in your organisation for projects, placements or long-term careers. We have experience of successfully supervising part-time PhD students "working away" in organisations, in the UK or further afield, which are interested in and committed to their research project. We are also keen to attract research students sponsored by external organisations who bring with them a suitable research challenge that is of mutual interest.
In addition to the short courses programme, delivered here at Lancaster, we can also deliver professional development courses on site for external organisations within the UK and overseas. Past clients have included major pharmaceutical companies, UK and European research institutions and charities.
