Identifying abrupt changes in the Earth's climate system using change-point detection
Long-term changes in the Earth's climate system and ecosystems exhibit abrupt changes, thresholds and non-linearities in their behaviour. In this talk, the different types of abrupt changes in the climate system and the forcing-response relationship producing them will be discussed. The usefulness of change-point detection to identify these abrupt changes will be demonstrated through applications.
