Maria Zenios

Lecturer

Associated research centres and groups: Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning

Current Teaching

I teach on the new Doctoral Programme in e-Research and Technology Enhanced Learning offered by the department of Educational Research since January 2008 and I convene the module entitled: Researching Technology Enhanced/ Networked Learning, Teaching and Assessment. I also teach on the MA programme in Education/ Educational Research and convene the 'Contemporary Issues in LTA' module.

Research Interests

Collaborative knowledge construction in technology-enhanced learning environments, pedagogic design issues in networked learning, open distance learning and professional development, networked and e-learning communities, learner experiences and pedagogy in TEL, computer-supported collaborative learning, teacher development and reflective practice, research methodologies.

Potential Doctoral Proposals

I am interested in supervising PhD candidates researching the innovative ways in which emerging technologies can support and augment learning and teaching, including their potential, impact and applications in education and life-long learning. My current PhD research students work in thefollowing areas:

  • Technology-enhanced learning;
  • Networked learning and e-learning design;
  • Open and distance learning;
  • Collaborative knowledge construction;
  • Online communities;
  • Simulation based learning.
