EDS 813: Contemporary Issues in Learning Teaching and Assessment

Convenor: Maria Zenios
Team Taught

The module explores some contemporary and significant thinking about the nature of learning, teaching and assessment in H.E, F.E., in formal settings such as school classrooms and in informal settings such as the home and workplace. Drawing from the socio-cultural and perspective, it is designed to combine engagement with pedagogic theories and new research on learning, teaching and assessment enabled by the use of new communication technologies.

Teaching and learning are organised around a mix of tutor presentations, seminar and group-problem working, discussion and associated activities and individual and shared readings. We will draw on set readings which explore the implications of theories of learning, teaching and assessment enhanced through networked technologies including practical examples and experiences. Two of the seminars will be offered online through the use of the LUVLE website.
