Careers and Progression after the MA

Our graduates have gone on to study for doctorates, pursue careers in educational research, teaching, educational and governmental organisations, youth and community work, educational publishing, administration and training in education. However this list is not exhaustive and as a Social Science related degree, the MA in Education courses can lead to many different and interesting pursuits.
The University has an active careers library and personal development programme for students and our department provides career advice for students on a personal basis.
Please note that the MA courses are not practical teaching courses and do not lead to Qualified Teaching Status

Who can apply?

We usually require at least an upper second class degree or its equivalent in a related discipline and/or you should be able to demonstrate knowledge and an interest in Educational Research and the topics that surround it. Extensive experience in a work related field may also be taken into consideration. Our students come from many different backgrounds, some are from overseas and others have just graduated and want to pursue their studies. Others are already practicing professionals or teachers who want to focus on a topic of educational research that interests them or can lead to professional development.
