Iphigenia at Lancaster Castle

The Rose Company, an all-female theatre company based in Lancaster, will be staging their very first production, of The Tragedy of Euripides called Iphigenia, at Lancaster Castle in November 2013.

Translated from Greek to English in 1533 by Lady Jane Lumley, Iphigenia is the first known dramatic text by a woman in English. The company, which includes Prof Alison Findlay of the Department of English and Creative Writing as Senex, plus postgraduate students Catherine Bateman (playing Iphigenia), Elle Lund (Achilles) and Beth Cortese.

The performances will take place at 7.30pm on 19th, 20th and 21st November and then at Homerton College Cambridge and University College London.
