Researching Africa: Fieldwork and UK based research

This postgraduate workshop draws together students from several different disciplines whose research interests relates to Africa. The workshop includes presentations and group discussions around two main topics. The morning session focuses on fieldwork in Africa, including the practicalities of preparing to undertake fieldwork in Africa and strategies for overcoming the practical challenges of fieldwork. The afternoon session considers the challenge of researching Africa from a distance. Speakers include Laura Fielding (LEC, Lancaster University), Dr Patricia Lund (Coventry University) and Dr Charlotte Baker (DELC, Lancaster University).
