Research Leadership in the Arts and Humanities
Date: 4 October 2013
On 20 September 2013 Dr Rebecca Braun was one of two invited speakers at a meeting convened by the Research Careers and Training Advisory Group to the UK Art and Humanities Research Council. The aim of the meeting was to help the public funding body identify positive models of leadership in Arts and Humanities Research. Discussion at the meeting centred on career trajectories, forms of institutional support, and the idea of the research leader as an 'entrpreneur'.
Rebecca was recently awarded an AHRC grant for her research project 'The Author and the World: New Interdisciplinary Approaches to Authorship'. The award, which specifically aims to identify future research leaders, allows her to grow her own research specialism in contemporary German authors and theories of literary celebrity and the public intellectual. From 2014 onwards, she will be setting up an interdisciplinary hub at Lancaster that brings together specialists from across Modern Languages, English & Creative Writing, Linguistics, History and Legal Studies to explore the different social and cultural contexts of authorship and consider how images of authorship circulate around the world.
