Celebrating 40 years of linguistics at Lancaster

campus

Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July 2014

LAEL Alumni and ex-colleagues: you are invited to join the celebrations as the Department of Linguistics and English Language turns 40 in 2014 - the same year that the University turns 50!  We hope you are able to join us in this double-anniversary celebration.

We are planning one and a half days of academic and social events on the Lancaster campus and in Lancaster Town Hall, featuring an appreciation of the past as well as an outlook to the future in the areas that our Department is famous for.

There will be contributions from people who have shaped the history of the Department, as well as insights into the work of current staff and a Q&A with the audience. There will also be an opportunity to appreciate how equipment for research on language has changed during the lifetime of the Department.

As 2014 is also the 50th anniversary of Lancaster University, you may additionally be able to take part in other celebratory events that will take place around the same time. We look forward to welcoming you back to Lancaster!
