Victorian Life Writing: Sources and Resources

Date: 21-23 July 2005 Time: 9.00 am

A Ruskin Centre Conference - Lancaster University, 21-23 July 2005.

Plenary Speakers: Philip Davis, Robert Hewison, George Landow, Alison Milbank and Jeffrey Richards.

Discussions and presentations will cover the records of Victorian writers' lives, written both by themselves and others. As well as various kinds of biography, we will consider more marginal forms of textuality, including journals, diaries and letters. The presentation and editing of these materials will also be of major interest. Paper streams will address the following topics:

  • Constructing Victorian Life Histories
  • Ruskinian Theatre
  • Recording Venice
  • Victorian Writers' Afterlives
  • Electronic Heaven and Virtual Lives

Please see the conference website for more details.

This conference is supported by the British Academy.
