Title: The story of the Lancaster maths and quantitative skills' project: is there such a thing as practitioner research?
Location: Bowland North Seminar Room 7 - originally A20
This paper tells the story of recent research about teaching and learning quantitative skills and Maths at Lancaster. In so doing, I ask how we position this sort of research: intended to provide answers to specific problems, it could be argued that it is not traditional educational research, yet it is not quite 'practitioner' research either. Are these false dichotomies and does this sort of positioning help us understand the problems we set out to address?
