EVENTUAL - LICA MA Festival launch event
Date: 16 September 2010 Time: 6.30 pm
Venue: Peter Scott Gallery and Nuffield Theatre
Combining the work of four artists currently studying LICA masters courses in Professional Contemporary Arts Practice and Contemporary Arts Research, EVENTUAL examines transient connections, the tensions between function and dysfunction and the role of technology in arts practice, through sculpture, installation, animation and performance. Following the opening event, the gallery exhibition runs until 24 September.
Aliki Chapple - I'm Listening, Sales Pitch, Explorers.Aliki has been exploring the relationship between live performance and technology. For Eventual, she has made three performances integrating elements of both. Including performances based on the Science Fiction stories of Philip K Dick, Aliki's stagings invite you to fill in the gaps with the best special effects department in the world, the human imagination.
Adam York Gregory - iBleed/Peter 2.1.As a comic artist, games designer and animator it's logical that when Adam was given some gallery space he would dissect and reanimate a dead computer as part of an interactive installation. iBleed/Peter 2.1 seeks to examine the emotional relationships between people and computers.
Anne Hewitt - People Matter.Through the use of installation Anne explores an emerging dysfunction in social connections and communication which are shown to straddle worlds of both intimacy and isolation. The central theme is disjointed contact, participation without being part of; the overlooked connection human beings have to each other via inanimate objects of the everyday.
Michael Turner - A Spectral Layer.Using piano, computer, projector screen and eight channels of surround sound, this piece combines audio, video and space to form a new conceptual layer that makes use of the composer's latest research into spectral processing and mapping.
